Driving simulator

The driving simulator is a high-tech machine, designed to simulate as close as possible to the reality situation on the road, using 3D platform to visualize the driving experience. It supports the messages with enabling participants to acquire personal experience. Each of them can check their personal skills and ability to drive and in the meantime understand how important it is to stay focused on the road all the time not only for oneself but also for the other road users.
The driving simulator allows reaching large numbers of people in a relatively short time without reducing the quality. For the basic program, including discussion of the primary safety measures, breaks reaction measurement and simulation of a situation while driving, no more than 10 minutes per person are needed. A more detailed analysis is more time consuming (e.g. examination of the performed simulations, an analysis of driving after drinking, gap analysis, analysis of different angles, etc.).

Objectives:

- Informing about the incompability of alcohol and drugs while driving a vehicle
- General information about HIV/AIDS
- Informing about the dangers of unsafe sex
- Make free condoms available for everyone, who is interested in this action

MISTEL/SPI implemented several campaigns called Safe Valentine. In combination with the PEER-project on driving schools the Peer Educators got an additional qualification related to the subject safer sex, HIV/AIDS and love. In total we trained 24 volunteers. The campaigns took place (among the regular offer of PEER-units in driving schools) several times:
-   Valentines Day 2010, Movie Theatre
-   World AIDS Day on the 1st of December 2010, City Centre, Campus, Movie Theatre
-   15th of June 2010 in schools
-   21st of June 2010 in schools
-   Valentines Day on the 14th of February 2011, Driving School
Young people had the opportunity to talk with the volunteers about subjects like Love, HIV/AIDS and safer sex, as well as sober driving. Among the discussions the young people received a Valentine’s postcard with a condom inside. They can present this postcard to their boyfriend/girlfriend. Information about the prevention topics of alcohol and drugs in connection with road use were available for these youngsters.

For the campaign you need: condoms, postcards for the HIV/AIDS campaign, information materials (Flyer, Brochures) for the PEER-project on driving schools; alcovision goggles and cones.

We believe that this action will be a multidimensional approach of health care.
The interest/objective of this action is to coordinate many health topics and to educate young people.
The action aims to sensitize the youngsters on important topics of road safety and VIH, to tackle the problem of risky behaviors among 12- 30 years.

Objectives:

-    to reduce the road accidents, caused by young people;
-    to improve the driving habits of the young drivers;
-    to reach directly a large number of young people through positive peer-to-peer communication and attractive tools.
Road of illusions: Road Safety Institute „Panos Mylonas” – Greece

Objectives:

- To convince, mainly young people, to drive safely without being under the influence of alcohol
- To inform the participants about the results of hyper-consumption of alcohol when they are driving and not only
- To change the mentality of drink and driving
